Hygiene & Maintenance

Preventative care is the foundation of lifelong oral health. Our hygiene visits go beyond a routine cleaning to include periodontal charting, gentle yet thorough removal of plaque and tartar, and personalized recommendations based on your gum health. These visits help catch early signs of disease and prevent the need for more invasive treatments later.

LANAP® Laser Gum Treatment

LANAP (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure) is a breakthrough alternative to traditional gum surgery. Using targeted laser energy, we gently eliminate infected tissue and stimulate healing—without scalpels or stitches. Patients love the faster recovery, less post-op discomfort, and long-term gum regeneration it offers.

Deep Cleaning & Root Planing

A deep cleaning (also known as a scaling) and root planing is the gold standard in non-surgical periodontal treatment. We remove buildup from deep periodontal pockets and smooth root surfaces to prevent bacteria from accumulating again. This procedure is often the first step in reversing the course of gum disease and preserving your natural teeth.

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) therapy in periodontics, a natural and regenerative treatment that uses a concentration of a patient's own blood to promote faster healing and tissue regeneration after dental procedures like gum grafting, bone regeneration, or tooth extractions

Gum Grafting & Recession Treatment

If gum recession has left your tooth roots exposed or made your smile look uneven, gum grafting can restore a healthy, natural gumline. We use your own tissue or advanced grafting materials to cover exposed roots, reduce sensitivity, and protect against further damage—while improving the aesthetics of your smile.

Gum Flap Surgery

For more advanced periodontal disease, flap surgery allows us to carefully lift the gums, clean deep pockets, and re-secure the tissue. This precise procedure is performed with comfort in mind and can help halt bone loss, promote healing, and maintain your ability to keep your natural teeth.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Early detection saves lives. That’s why we include oral cancer screenings in every comprehensive exam. Using advanced visualization and palpation techniques, we check for abnormal tissue or lesions—especially important for tobacco users, heavy drinkers, or patients with a family history of cancer.

Biopsies

If we find anything concerning during your exam, we may recommend a biopsy to get a definitive diagnosis. Performed comfortably and efficiently in our office, biopsies help ensure that you receive the right care quickly—whether it's reassurance or next steps.

Crown Lengthening

Whether you're preparing for a restorative crown or looking to enhance your smile’s proportions, crown lengthening gently reshapes the gum and bone around a tooth to expose more of its surface. It's a precise, minimally invasive way to support your health and confidence.

Here's what you can expect

The Periodontal Treatment Process

Whether you're coming in for preventive care or advanced treatment, we make the process comfortable, collaborative, and tailored to your needs.

1
Comprehensive Evaluation

We begin with a detailed exam, digital X-rays, and periodontal charting to assess your gum health. If needed, we perform oral cancer screenings and biopsies to ensure a complete picture of your condition.

2
Personalized Treatment Plan

Your care plan may include deep cleanings like scaling and root planing, gentle LANAP® laser therapy, or more advanced procedures like gum grafting, flap surgery, or crown lengthening. We walk you through each option so you know exactly what to expect.

3
Targeted, Conservative Treatment

Our goal is always to treat the problem at its source—while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible. We use minimally invasive techniques, advanced technology, and regenerative tools like PRF to support faster healing and long-term success.

4
Long-Term Maintenance & Support

After treatment, we’ll schedule periodontal maintenance cleanings every 3–4 months to help prevent relapse. We also monitor healing and implant stability, so your smile stays strong for the long haul.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find out common questions we get from our patients or give us a call for personalized advice.

Periodontal disease (also called gum disease) is an infection of the tissues that support your teeth. It often starts with bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, or gum recession—and it can progress silently without much pain. If you’ve noticed any of these symptoms, it’s worth scheduling a consultation. We can help determine what stage you're in and create a plan to protect your smile.

Gingivitis, the earliest stage of gum disease, is reversible with proper care. However, once it progresses to periodontitis, we focus on managing the condition and preventing further damage. The good news? With treatments like scaling and root planing, LANAP laser therapy, and supportive maintenance, we can help stabilize your oral health and prevent tooth loss.

Our goal is always to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Many of our procedures—especially laser treatments like LANAP—are minimally invasive and gentle on the gums. For deeper cleanings or surgical procedures, we offer in-house IV sedation, noise-canceling headphones, and other amenities to ease any discomfort or anxiety you may have.

If you’ve had treatment for periodontal disease, you’ll likely need maintenance visits every 3–4 months. These specialized cleanings are more frequent than standard dental checkups and allow us to closely monitor your gum health, remove plaque before it becomes a problem, and keep you stable long-term.

Many PPO dental insurance plans cover at least part of the cost of periodontal care, especially if the treatment is considered medically necessary. Our team is happy to verify your benefits, explain your coverage, and work with you on in-house or third-party financing if needed so you can prioritize your health without added stress.
